@schlink Alfred has a quick action to lock the screen. Alternatively you can add a hot corner to lock the screen in System Preferences. Lastly in Keychain Access you can enable a menu item to let you lock the screen. All these achieve the same thing. Your user session remains but the computer is locked. You may want to turn on the setting to prevent the computer from sleeping when on power too.
